The ruffle sits on a curve seam that curves underneath the bust and down to the waist

I suspect that this was from the 1980 Rive Gauche collection as it is eerily similar in design and cut to the 1979 Haute Couture version I have had in recently (see that one here)

That alone makes it a fabulous piece for me but it has the added bonus of being a hard to find larger size on top

I think it was a brilliant way to re-do an iconic look from YSL and make it his own

Based on the lines and fabrication of this dress I suspect it is from one of his very first collections
