The symptoms of partial patellar tendon tear include the following: A sudden tear or pop in the knee at the time of injury, which others may hear too Swelling around the knee area Bruising at the site of injury Soreness around the patellar tendon and knee joint Knee instability Tightness in the knee area Pain and discomfort with movement e.g., when bending or straightening the leg, jumping, squatting, and running for extended periods of activity Decreased range of motion due to pain Who is at Risk of a Patellar Tendon Tear
