so the only thing I can read for sure are the dates 1881 and 1883

Tintype Man Posing with Three Dogs - One Very Unruly black history 5" and is in overallOriginal tintype, man posing with THREE dogs, one seated on his lap, one lying on the floor, and one to the left of his chair whose head is nothing but a blur. Maybe he was jealous of the one on the man's lap (a black cocker spaniel?) who looks pretty happy, with is tongue out. Tintype is about 3. 5" x 2. 5" and in very good antique condition. Light surface grime and a couple of light bends.
