L217 pyrite Size: 10" wide x 8"18th century Italian gold leaf fragment with a baroque pearl on a free forming black obsidian mineral with a polished face. Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is an igneous rock.
