1964 Kennedy Silver Half Dollar - Accented Hair - NGC PF67 NEWP518 Mintage: 31Mintage: 3,950,762 Estimated pop 5,836 Struck at the Philadelphia Mint Rare Accented Hair variety on exhibited only on first year of issue 1964 Proofs The Accented Hair design is believed to have been the first design used to strike Proof Kennedy Half Dollars in 1964. Though more ornate than the later design, nonetheless Mrs. Kennedy requested that the hair strands right above the ear on the coin would be less prominent, creating this variety. A
